South Staffordshire Network for Mental Health

The South Staffordshire Network for Mental Health (SSNMH) is an independent charity that involves and represents people who have personal experience of mental illness in the districts of Southern Staffordshire. We support people living in Stafford Borough, Tamworth Borough, East Staffordshire, South Staffordshire, Lichfield and Cannock Chase.

  • We promote the interests and rights of people who use local mental health services, and give them the opportunity to take part in the development of services.
  • We actively represent people and act as a voice to influence the design of service to meet needs.
  • We signpost people to services they may want to use; and point people in the right direction if they become ‘stuck’ when using services.
  • We empower people to make their own decisions about health and care they receive.

You can meet our team at our regular Development Visits to 30 mental health groups and services across the area, including groups ran by Richmond Fellowship Life Links, Changes Mental Health and Wellbeing, Quest Day Opportunities, and many of the independent and self-led groups, or at our Network Forums, which meet throughout the year. You can make comments, compliments, concerns and feedback on services for us to report anonymously, or we’ll help you to find the responses for yourself. Check our website or look for posters with our sun logo at the service you go to for details of the visits.

You are invited to join our membership of over 600 people and get our Network News quarterly and access to factsheets & useful reports by email or post, free of charge. Please complete one of our leaflets.

Our members also have the opportunity to volunteer for us on a number of meaningful and useful projects:
  • Our involvement champions support meetings and visits to groups, and represent service users at various forums.
  • Our awareness champions help to spread awareness of the challenges faced by people with experience of mental illness, including stigma and discrimination.

We can also help you to find about other ways of being involved in the development of services, including current consultations and engagement opportunities, or being by representatives for other
organisations we work in partnership with such as the Trust’s Service User Reference Forum, Richmond Fellowship’s Service User Steering Group, or Changes Service User Forums.
You can contact us:

  • in person at our Development Visits or at our office in the centre of Lichfield
  • by phone
  • by email
  • by post to our freepost address
  • through our website
  • by facebook or twitter
